Free Tax Help - SWHPL (Full) In-Person
The Northeast Harbor and Southwest Harbor Public Libraries are offering tax help through the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program. This service is free to taxpayers with low and moderate income and is offered in cooperation with the IRS. These trained volunteers help taxpayers receive all applicable tax credits and deductions. All tax help is confidential.
Northeast Harbor Library will offer by appointment only on the following Mondays: February 27, March 20, and April 3.
Southwest Harbor Public Library will offer by appointment only on the following Mondays: February 6 (full) & 13 (full), March 6, 13, & 27, and April 10.
To make an appointment, please call the Northeast Harbor Public Library, 276-3333 or the Southwest Harbor Public Library, 244-7065.
Please bring the following documents to your appointment:
-Copy of last year's tax return
-Social security card or statement
-Picture ID
-All tax documents - anything related to your income or loan/mortgage payments
-Totals for property tax or rent paid
-Bank account and routing numbers for direct deposit/debit
AARP Tax Aide will try to complete your return in one visit if you have all your information with you
AARP volunteers do not handle taxes for rental income or business taxes
