Susan Deborah King -- Poetry Reading In-Person / Online

Susan Deborah King, a summer resident of Great Cranberry Island, will give a reading from her poetry, including excerpts from her two most recent books: Moon Dance (island poems) and Though It Can’t Last (a dialogue between her and a colleague who is a photographer) at Southwest Harbor Library, Sat., July 20 at 1:00pm. Copies of her book will be for sale and a portion of the sales will benefit the library.

Beginning her professional life as a Presbyterian pastor, King went on to teach creative writing at Western Connecticut State University, the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis, and the University of Minnesota. She was artist in residence at the Whittier Community School for the Arts and at United Seminary of the Twin Cities, both in Minnesota, as well as leading many retreats on Creativity and Spirituality. She is the author of nine books of poetry, including Bog Orchids, One-Breasted Woman and Dropping into the Flower, as also editor of two poetry anthologies, Out of the Depths: Poetry of Poverty, Courage and Resilience, and Fresh Testaments. In the winter she lives in Cumberland, Maine with her husband. She has twin daughter and two grandchildren.
