Peter Breslow NPR Book Talk & Interview In-Person / Online
Join us on Tuesday, May 28th 5:30 p.m. for Outtakes: Stumbling around the World for NPR book talk with Peter Breslow interviewed by Fred Benson. This program is in-person with online viewing available. National Public Radio wasn’t always the journalistic treasure it is today. And Peter Breslow wasn’t always a multi-Peabody Award winner. Thankfully for NPR listeners, their paths crossed in 1982 when both were young, and they grew up together over the decades. In his memoir Outtakes: Stumbling Around the World for NPR, Peter reveals how NPR moved from a niche listening experience to become one of the world’s preeminent news organizations. Peter is currently an adjunct professor at the College of the Atlantic. Books will be available for sale and signing.
Engaging and immersive, it is unexpected story after story as Peter works with NPR’s Scott Simon, Susan Stamberg, Lulu Garcia-Navarro and John Burnett. Beyond Everest, enjoy Oreos with an Afghan tribal leader, cling to the antenna atop the Empire State Building and play underwater hockey. Peter Breslow’s chronicles are packed with absurd hijinks, hilarious missteps and breathtaking close calls. Outtakes is a must read for NPR fans, journalists of all ages and people interested in enthralling audio storytelling.
Mount Desert Island resident Fred Benson has been engaged in national and international government affairs activities in the White House, the Pentagon, and with Weyerhaeuser Company.

Peter takes us on a wild ride of assignments from the South Pole to the Amazon to Mogadishu to Baghdad, and also prompts a rattlesnake to spit venom on his microphone.
