Acadia: Finding Peace in an Overcrowded Park with Photographer John K. Putnam

Acadia: Finding Peace in an Overcrowded Park with Photographer John K. Putnam Online

Photographer John K. Putnam will kick-off the December exhibit at the Southwest Harbor Public Library with the online presentation, “Acadia: Finding Peace in an Overcrowded Park” on Tuesday, November 30 at 5:30 p.m. Along with John’s nature photographs, Jayne Dwyer’s sculpted nature and coastal Maine inspired jewelry will be on display in December. All photographs and jewelry are available for sale and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the library.

In "Acadia: Finding Peace in an Overcrowded Park" John will discuss how he's able to make images that show only the wild beauty of Acadia without letting the crowds get in the way and how his approach can be used by anyone to find solitude in Acadia.

John K. Putnam is a full-time nature & landscape photographer living on Mount Desert Island, Maine, home of Acadia National Park. When he moved to Maine in 2015, John founded J.K. Putnam Photography with the mission of building personal photographic experiences for people, no matter their needs or skill level, by offering small-group workshops and private, instructional photo tours.

John’s knowledge of Acadia as a photographic subject is extensive and he uses that knowledge to put himself and his students in the right place at the right time based on the tide, weather, light, and time of year. He loves teaching, loves showing off Acadia and, most importantly, gets outside to photograph every day. His work has been awarded and exhibited internationally and can be viewed online at www.jkputnamphotography.com or in person at his gallery on Main Street in Southwest Harbor.
