Multi-media Family Show "King of Ragtime: The Story of Scott Joplin" w Steve Costanza In-Person
The Southwest Harbor Public Library will host local author & illustrator Steve Costanza on Saturday, October 8th at 11:00 a.m. for a multi-media, piano-eccentric family show with live music, celebrating Costanza's new picture book King of Ragtime,The Story of Scott Joplin. The program will include behind-the-scenes peek at the process of making a picture book come to life, complete with Ragtime piano tunes. This celebration of Scott Joplin, whose ragtime compositions paved the way for jazz, will captivate audiences and put a beat in their step. Themed bookmarks and King of Ragtime coloring pages will be given at the program. Books will also be for sale.
Stephen Costanza has illustrated and written several books for children, including three about music, Mozart Finds a Melody, Vivaldi and the Invisible Orchestra, and King of Ragtime. He studied music and composition, and for a time played piano professionally, performing both
