Granite & Bones Mystery Writer Moe Claire

Granite & Bones Mystery Writer Moe Claire In-Person / Online

On Tuesday, September 20th at 5:30 p.m., the library will host mystery writer Moe Claire whose most recent book is Granite & Bones, the second in the Pyke Island mystery series. Claire spoke at the library about the first book A Fickle Tide in 2019. The event is in-person with online viewing available.

Moe Claire’s second novel continues the Pyke Island mystery series with unique characters and the Downeast coastal setting that readers have come to expect. In book two the summer season on Pyke Island typically kicks off with a traditional Fourth of July celebration for both local residents and the many tourists who come to sample a little taste of Maine. But it’s no picnic for Del Corriveau after she finds human skeletal remains in a remote area of Granite Coast Park in a slab cave with more than one secret. What begins as research into a granite peak instead uncovers a mountain of lies, betrayal, and revenge. Del and friends, Ty and Marco, find themselves caught in the crossfire of an old feud between longtime island neighbors. Meanwhile, their friendship is strained by a new kind of rivalry and rescue is far from certain.

Moe Claire is the author of Pyke Island Mysteries set in Downeast Maine. The series includes the titles: A Fickle Tide (2019), Granite and Bones (2021), and Black Veil, White Rose (due to be published in 2022). Retired from a career in computer science, Claire is an outdoor enthusiast and lifelong student of the natural sciences, most recently geology. She started writing mysteries set in Downeast Maine because, as a voracious reader, she couldn’t find many books that did justice to the landscape and people. When not writing she hikes, gardens, teaches literature at Maine senior colleges, enjoys summer and winter in Acadia National Park, and volunteers for several local non-profits.

Registration is required to attend both in-person and to receive an online link.

Each in-person attendee must complete a registration. We will have a waitlist so register just in case a space becomes available.
